Hyperoptic to rollout gigabit capable network to more homes in Hackney

Upon completion, 30% of homes in the London borough will be able to access Hyperoptic's services.

Hyperoptic is to extend their gigabit capable fibre network out to more social housing in Hackney under a new agreement with the council. 

This expansion forms part of the local Better Broadband project which aims to offer these residents a faster, more reliable internet connection. 

At present, Hyperoptic’s services are available to 10% of those in the borough but this new rollout will raise it to 30%. There is currently no set completion date for the project. 

This agreement will also see Hyperoptic provide free connections to 50 local facilities like community halls along with job opportunities, apprenticeships and training in digital skills to residents. Discounts will also be offered to those struggling financially. 

The provider has similar agreements in place with other London boroughs like Hammersmith, Tower Hamlets, Brent and Southwark so residents can enjoy access to their services. 

Hyperoptic’s gigabit capable fibre network is already available in over 400,000 premises in certain locations across 43 towns and cities.  

Their goal is to cover 2 million homes by the end of 2021 and then 5 million by the end of 2024.
